Job Advertising Index Unchanged: Employment advertising in newspapers failed to increase in April, another indication that the economy is not creating many jobs, the Conference Board research group said. The group’s help-wanted survey measures ad volume in 51 major newspapers across the country every month. An index calculated from survey results was 96 in April, the same level as March and one point below the February level. The survey gauges the supply of jobs but provides no information on the types of jobs employers are seeking to fill.
