Trestles Trip--A bird-watching trip to the Trestles area at San Onofre sponsored by the Sea & Sage chapter of the National Audubon Society will be held Thursday.
Participants will follow the loop trail toward the train trestles through coastal sage scrub, past a lagoon and creek mouth, along the beach and back through coastal sage scrub and riparian habitat.
Birds that might be seen include yellow-breasted chats, pied-billed grebes, red-shouldered and red-tailed hawks, swallows, Nuttall’s woodpeckers and goldfinches.
Those who would like to participate should bring binoculars and water and be prepared for a variety of weather.
The group will meet at 8 a.m. at the parking lot before the Carl’s Jr. on the frontage road on the east side of Interstate 5 at Cristianitos Road.
