Injury Forces Lin Out of Section Singles Play
- Share via
Canyon High senior Eric Lin said Tuesday he is withdrawing from the Southern Section individual singles tournament because of an inflamed right elbow.
Lin, who reached the semifinals of the Easter Bowl tournament in Miami, probably would have been one of the favorites to win the section singles tournament that starts Saturday.
But Lin, who easily won three sets Tuesday in the team competition against Mission Viejo, was advised by his doctor to rest his elbow.
“I’m looking out for myself, for the long term,” said Lin, who will play tennis for UCLA next season. “Some people might say I’m trying to dodge people in the CIF tournament. But people who know me, know what’s going on, that I’m simply not healthy enough to play.”
