Senators on Gays in the Military

If retired Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf really believes that allowing gays and lesbians to openly serve their country would render the U.S. military “a second-class armed force,” then he must also believe America itself to be a second-class society (May 12).
And no one’s suggesting the military be made an “instrument of social experimentation,” but rather an accurate reflection of social reality.
