The Return of the Dead: The Grateful Dead has won approval from the Pasadena City Council for an Aug. 14 concert at the Rose Bowl. This will be the first Southern California concert by the San Francisco-based rock institution in two years. The band is considering possible opening acts for the show. Past concerts at the Rose Bowl have drawn protests from neighbors of the stadium, but after last year’s Guns N’ Roses/Metallica concert, which went off without serious incidents, there has been no public outcry about the Dead concert plans.
