President Clinton wants to create a trust fund to help reduce the deficit, but where does he stand on T-shirts?
Simi Valley sisters Pamela Staton and Kathy Drake formed a company to market “deficit-buster” T-shirts. For every shirt sold at $13.95 plus tax and handling, they promise to contribute $5 to the Treasury Department’s Deficit Reduction Fund.
“If something isn’t done about the deficit, our children are going to inherit a disaster,” said Staton.
She said she and her sister have established a firm called Be-Cause We Care and have had 200 shirts printed thus far.
“We haven’t really started to market them yet. Eventually, we hope to go nationwide.”
The slogan on the shirt’s front says, “Don’t Get Mad, Get Even.” On the back: “No Shirt Off My Back to Balance the Budget.”
The sisters assure prospective buyers that even if the deficit shrinks, their shirts won’t.
