Nothing Small-Time About Play Like This
It may not be major league news, but there was an unassisted triple play made in the 10-to-12-year-old division of girls’ softball in San Marcos. Anna Duma, back from a foot injury after five weeks, caught a line drive at shortstop, tagged a runner going from second to third, then ran to third to tag out another runner trying to get back to that base.
After Anna’s team, the Nightmares, won the game, she told her parents: “I’m getting my name in the paper; it’s going to make the Los Angeles Times!”
Well, why not? Unassisted triple plays aren’t made every day.
