OXNARD : 7 Youths Arrested in Graffiti Spree
Oxnard police have arrested four juveniles in connection with a graffiti-tagging contest that caused an estimated $5,000 in damage in the south part of the city last weekend.
The four 16-year-old Oxnard youths were arrested on suspicion of participating in a contest that left graffiti on railroad crossings, trees, walls and traffic signs on Bard Road between Justin Way and Rose Avenue.
Three other youths, ages 13 to 17, were arrested on suspicion of tagging along Channel Islands Boulevard, Saviers Road and at Mervyn’s at 2701 Saviers Road.
The arrests stemmed from a two-day investigation by Officers Jim O’Brien and John Neitzel. All the juveniles were cited and released to their parents.
Sgt. Chuck Hookstra said he expects more arrests in the next few days.
