Two UC Irvine Golfers Shoot 75s at Big West

Steve Holmes and Drew Salis shot three-over 75s for UC Irvine in the first round of the Big West Conference golf championships Monday at Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas.
Nobuhito Sato of Nevada leads the tournament after firing a four-under 68. Warren Schullte is in second place, one stroke behind Sato, and third-place John Daulphin of San Jose State shot a one-under 71.
Irvine is in eighth place after a first-round 309. Nevada Las Vegas leads with 294 and San Jose State is in second at 298.
