PRO BASKETBALL / UPDATE : AROUND THE NBA : Pistons Replace Rothstein With Chaney
Associated Press
Don Chaney was named Detroit’s coach, replacing Ron Rothstein, who was fired a week ago after one season when the Pistons failed to reach the NBA playoffs for the first time in a decade.
This is the third head-coaching job for Chaney, who was an assistant to Rothstein. He coached the Clippers for two-plus seasons and the Houston Rockets for most of four.
Utah guard John Stockton sustained minor injuries in a car accident while driving to practice in Salt Lake City, but was expected to be ready for tonight’s Game 3 of the Jazz’s series against the Seattle SuperSonics.
