RADIO ALERT: Former state Supreme Court Justice Cruz Reynoso knew that he was a candidate for a seat on the U.S. Civil Rights Commission. But the Orange County native didn’t know he had gotten the job until he recently heard his appointment announced on Spanish radio while driving to San Francisco. “They seemed pretty sure about it,” he says, laughing. Reynoso, swept from the court with Rose Bird in 1986, will continue teaching law at UCLA. “I’m excited about this appointment,” he says. “I’ve been interested in the subject as long as I can remember.”
