SIMI VALLEY : Public’s Help Sought in Superintendent Search
Simi Valley school officials are looking for the public’s help in deciding what qualities to look for in a superintendent to replace Robert Purvis, who retires at the end of this school year.
The board of the Simi Valley Unified School District will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Sequoia Junior High School to seek residents’ opinions, officials said.
The superintendent’s position was advertised statewide in March, and 21 candidates had applied by Friday’s deadline, officials said. A timeline for narrowing the field and hiring Purvis’ successor has not been set.
The board is compiling a list of characteristics that the successful candidate should possess, officials said.
Purvis is retiring at the end of June after leading the 17,700-student district for more than two years.
