Wife Arrested After Man, 53, Is Shot

ANAHEIM — A 53-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after shooting her husband during an argument, authorities said.
Beverly Higuera reportedly had been talking about divorce with her estranged husband, Gilbert Higuera, 53, about 5 p.m. when she shot him once with a handgun, Sheriff’s Lt. Ron Wilkerson said.
“Neighbors said the wife was running around the front yard saying that she had just shot her husband,” Wilkerson said.
When deputies arrived at the home in the 8300 block of Augusta Street, they found Gilbert Higuera standing in the living room. He was initially uncooperative, and it wasn’t until paramedics examined him that they discovered that he had been shot in the buttocks, Wilkerson said.
Gilbert Higuera was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment. His wife was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
The gun, a .357 magnum, was recovered by police.
