Santa Anita Misses a Chance for Charity
For many years, Santa Anita closed its long winter meeting with two days for charity. This year two days were lost because of heavy rains and these days could have been made up on Monday and Tuesday, but management decided not to do this because it was concerned about going over a $250-million handle for the meeting and going into an excessive tax bracket.
Wouldn’t it have been sensible to go ahead and operate these two days and turn this income over to charity as they did in years past?
