Jesse Stern of Harvard-Westlake High continued his roll in the pole vault Thursday when he cleared a personal best of 16 feet 4 inches in a Mission League track and field meet against visiting Notre Dame.
The Knights placed first in the boys’ 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3 minutes 25.7 seconds to win the meet, 65-62, but that could not diminish Stern’s effort, which moved him to fourth on the all-time region list.
