The Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering rewards of up to $1,000 for information that would help solve crimes in Oxnard and Thousand Oaks.
In Thousand Oaks, police are searching for a man who on March 10 sexually assaulted a woman as she watered flowers in the back yard of her Hollyburne Lane home.
The man, described as about 38 years old, fondled the woman and showed her the grips of a gun that was in his pants waistband.
The man jumped over a fence and fled after the woman said her husband was at home, according to Sgt. Kitty Hoberg of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Police believe the same man may have assaulted a woman who was waiting for a tow truck Feb. 23 on the Ventura Freeway at the bottom of the Conejo Grade.
The second Crime Stoppers incident is the burglary of Image Cellular on Ventura Boulevard in Oxnard. Burglars smashed two front windows of the store and stole several Motorola pagers and plastic neon pager cases.
The burglary, discovered April 1, came a week after someone fired BB pellets at the front windows. On April 4, police thwarted another burglary when they responded to a call about a possible crime in progress.
Anyone with information about either crime can call 987-TALK (987-8255) in Camarillo, 494-TALK in Thousand Oaks or Moorpark or 986-TALK in Port Hueneme. Information can be given anonymously.
