Israel’s High Mark: Prices on the international art market are rising again--at least in Israel. Marc Chagall’s oil painting “Return From the Synagogue” was bought by a private American collector for $1.65 million at an auction in Tel Aviv, the highest price ever paid at auction in Israel, according to Sotheby’s.
