PASADENA : Councilman Denies He Admitted Cocaine Use
Pasadena City Councilman Isaac Richard denied that he is a cocaine user and disputed a description of a conversation he had with Mayor Rick Cole in which he allegedly confessed to using the drug regularly.
Richard contacted a reporter late Wednesday to respond to assertions in a police report that he told Cole he had “a cocaine problem.” Cole gave his account of the conversation to a detective investigating charges that Richard had sexually assaulted a woman after using cocaine.
“I unequivocally deny using cocaine,” Richard said. He said he is in treatment for a “chemical imbalance.” But Richard would not comment further on the nature of his problem or on his whereabouts. According to reports from friends, he has been in a “desert treatment facility” for the past three weeks.
Cole declined to comment.
