Gays Want Equal Rights

Re: Linda L. Vahl’s letter titled, “Quit catering to gays.” Obviously, Ms. Vahl is ignorant to the fact that AIDS is not a gay disease. She is obviously living in the past when AIDS first surfaced and was hardest felt by gay men. Since then, any half-wit who can read a newspaper or watch the evening news knows that AIDS has affected each and every one of us regardless of sexual orientation.

The words “special interest group” never cease to amaze me. Gay men, lesbians and bisexuals have never asked for special rights. We have only asked for equal rights, only to be ignored by mainstream America. Now, we are demanding equal rights.
