HUNTINGTON BEACH — Police said Thursday that the gun used in the accidental shooting death of a 17-year-old by a 14-year-old friend was stolen from a Huntington Beach residence in December.
John West of Westminster was eating while sitting on a sofa Wednesday afternoon when his friend accidentally fired the fatal shot while playing with a .22-caliber revolver. West was struck once on the top of his head, police said. A third teen-ager, in whose apartment the accident took place, did not witness the shooting. Police said all three were good friends.
Lt. Charles R. Poe said they are still investigating how the teen-agers obtained the revolver.
