1993 PREP PREVIEW / BOYS TENNIS : CORONA DEL MAR
- Share via
Coach: Tim Mang (first year).
1992: 16-6, 8-2, second in Sea View; lost to San Clemente in Division 1-A quarterfinals.
Key returners: Brian Walden, Sr. moves to No. 1 singles after playing No. 1 doubles for two years; Trenton Rhodes, Sr., moves to No. 2 singles after going to Section doubles finals with Walden as a sophomore.
Key newcomers: Beat Baudenbacher, Sr., exchange student from Switzerland who also plays on soccer team; Lars Hoglund, Sr., exchange student from Sweden; Rodolfo Prieto, Sr., exchange student from Chili.
Outlook: Although Mang lost four seniors, he somehow came up with three foreign exchange students. Mang said Prieto is probably the best of them. Had they remained together, Walden and Rhodes would have been the section’s top-ranked doubles team. As singles players, they should challenge for the league singles title. Corona del Mar will find out how good it is early when it plays traditional powers Santa Barbara and Beverly Hills in nonleague.
