In addition to recruiting star quarterback Ron Powlus of Berwick High School in Pennsylvania, Notre Dame also offered a job to his coach, George Curry.
Curry, USA Today’s national high school coach of the year, confirmed the job offer but said he turned it down. Notre Dame Coach Lou Holtz, who landed Powlus, denied the offer to Curry was contingent upon Powlus coming to Notre Dame.
