Intervention in Bosnia

Cockburn traces Yugoslavia’s problems to the denizens of the “sewers of nationalism.” (He would no doubt say the same about Armenia and the Caucasus.)
Cockburn’s own name suggests that his national origin places him among the imperialists who practiced “divide and rule” by shifting populations and gerrymandering the centuries-old lands of proud nations. Instead of confessing their criminal past, these First World people now piously dedicate themselves to unchangeable political boundaries throughout the world in the name of peace. Every nation, however small, has the right to be nationalistic and to trash its foreign rulers.
