WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : No. 10 Stanford Beats UCLA, 71-54

No. 10-ranked Stanford used a balanced attack and outclassed UCLA from start to finish in registering a 71-54 victory over the Bruins on Thursday night before a crowd of 503 in a Pacific 10 Conference game at Pauley Pavilion.
Forward Rachel Hemmer led five Cardinal players in double figures with 15 points. Stanford (18-5 overall, 9-3 in the Pac-10) shot 50% to the Bruins’ 35%.
UCLA, which got 16 points and 12 rebounds from Natalie Williams, and 12 points from Nicole Anderson, lost to Stanford for the 10th consecutive time. The Bruins are 10-11 and 5-7.
Cal State Long Beach 90, UC Irvine 81--Chenise Butler scored 17 points and Marsheela Harriston and Charon Johnson had 16 apiece as the 49ers won a Big West Conference Game before 135 at Irvine’s Bren Center.
Long Beach (7-13, 6-7) outrebounded Irvine, 42-29.
Yvone Catala led the Anteaters (2-19, 1-12) with 19 points.
