Hoggatts Leads Faith Baptist to 1st-Round Victory
Sophomore forward Tony Hoggatts turned his first career triple-double as Faith Baptist High defeated La Sierra, 83-66, in a first-round game of the Southern Section Division V-AA boys’ basketball playoffs Thursday night in Riverside.
Hoggatts had 17 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds for the Contenders (14-11), who advanced to the state V-AA final last season.
Leonard Colon added 20 points for Faith Baptist, and teammate Matt Cooper, filling in for an ill Judd Granzow, scored 12 points on six-for-seven shooting.
Senior guard James DeCarriere added 18 points and a game-high nine steals for the Contenders, who jumped to a 10-2 lead.
