January Restaurant Closures

The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services has the power to shut down food facilities for as short or as long a period of time as necessary for the owners to correct conditions that pose a danger to the public health. Here is a list of the restaurants closed and the reasons for closure during January. Beverly Springs--308 N. Oxford Ave., L.A. Closed 1/14 to 1/15. No potable water supply or no hot water.

Casa Aguila--2801 Firestone Blvd., South Gate. Closed 1/20 to 1/21. No public health permit, sewage system failure.

Casa Escobar--2700 Colorado Blvd., L.A. Closed 1/6 to 1/7. No toilet facilities, no hand-washing facilities, improper sanitizing or storage of multiuse utensils, sewage system failure, insufficient ventilation.

Chartreuse Restaurant--1909 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica. Closed 1/19; reopened same day. Vermin infestation, gross contamination of food preparation surfaces.

Chin & Chin Restaurant--228 N. Gaffey St., San Pedro. Closed 1/27 and remains closed.* Vermin infestation.

Chin Ting Restaurant--685 S. Hoover St., L.A. Closed 1/19; reopened same day. No potable water supply or no hot water, sewage system failure.
