The city has hired a Beverly Hills-based developer to build a shopping center at Chapel Avenue and Main Street.
The 67,777-square-foot center will include a supermarket, drugstore, retail shops and restaurants. Ralphs and Sav-On are negotiating to be tenants, city officials said.
The center is part of an effort to revitalize the city’s downtown Main Street area.
Under the agreement, Camden Group Ltd. is to pay $1.3 million to the city for the property. The Alhambra Redevelopment Agency also will share in the center’s profits for 12 years. The center is due to open by spring, 1994.
