Charles Burton King; Former College Teacher
Former Ventura College teacher Charles Burton King died this week in his Fillmore home after a long illness. He was 73.
King, who moved from Los Angeles County to Fillmore 17 years ago, had a long career as an educator, teaching floriculture at Van Nuys High School, Pierce College and Ventura College.
He also was a chaplain at Wayside Honor Ranch north of Valencia and a pastor at Travel Village in Los Angeles County. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Santa Paula.
King is survived by his wife, Lois, of Fillmore, three children and other relatives in Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Skillin Carroll Mortuary Chapel in Fillmore.
