Three robbers stole approximately $90,000 in jewelry from Saks Fifth Avenue in Woodland Hills on Monday night and made a clean getaway, police said.
“It was too easy,” Los Angeles Police Sgt. Roger Ferguson said. “It was so simple it makes you sick.”
No one was injured in the armed robbery about 5:45 p.m. at the Promenade Mall store at 21801 Oxnard St., Ferguson said.
Two of the men walked up to the jewelry counter while a third pulled a gun and pointed it at a saleswoman, who opened the cases on the gunman’s demand, Ferguson said. The other two men loaded expensive earrings and necklaces into two cloth bags.
The men were last seen driving out of the parking lot in an older model brown Ford station wagon, Ferguson said.
A spokeswoman for the store declined to comment on the crime. But a Woodland Hills teen-ager who was shopping in the store at the time said that she saw three men pull a gun on a clerk in a purse section. The girl, who asked not to be identified, said that another customer exclaimed “Oh my God, he has a gun!” and about 40 shoppers rushed for the exits.
