Clinton Appointees
Laura D’Andrea Tyson has been named to head the White House Council of Economic Advisers and has stated (Dec. 20) that the “deficit cannot be cured by cutting waste. . . .” Of course it can’t. Neither can any other single method, but it can certainly help. The potential billions it could save could finance a large part of President-elect Clinton’s infrastructure program. In any case, I suspect it would do more than her idea of taxing Social Security of the rich.
If Tyson advises Clinton to forget about waste because it will do no good, he certainly will be a one-term President.
Hopefully, with beliefs like that Tyson will be fired before she gets us in deeper.
