Phootball and the Phantom: The phantom from “Phantom of the Opera” has a bowl invitation this year. Davis Gaines, who plays the masked man in the show at the Ahmanson Theatre, will sing the national anthem at the Freedom Bowl on Tuesday at Anaheim Stadium before USC meets Fresno State. Gaines will travel phantom-style--by air--when a helicopter takes him to the stadium and back to the theater in time for his performance.
