OUTLOOK Last season, the Eagles manhandled their Arrowhead League opponents and just about everybody else they played until they hit the Southern Section Division IV-A playoffs. After receiving a bye in the first round, the Eagles lost to Flintridge Sacred Heart, 67-37, in the second round. This season in the Olympic League, they’ll have a stiffer challenge trying to contend for the league championship. But Starr is confident the Eagles can finish on top. “I put my vote on Calvary,” Starr said. “This team plays hard and they have a lot of knowledge.” It also has Linsey, the Arrowhead League most valuable player last season, back to lead the way. The backcourt is in good hands with all-leaguer Amanda Mahlow and Amundson, who averaged five points last season. Starr says Amundson has the potential to be a top guard. “She has speed and knows the game really well,” Starr said. “She can direct the team on the court.” Newcomer Owens, a standout on the school’s volleyball team, provides depth at guard. “(Owens) is very fast and intelligent. She can hit the three-pointers,” Starr said. Making those long-distance shots consistently is one of the team’s goals. “We want to take advantage of the three-point line,” Starr said. “We’d like to score in the 50s and hold our opponents to under 20 points.”
