11th McDonnell Douglas Rocket Launched: McDonnell Douglas Aerospace in Huntington Beach has launched its 11th Delta II rocket for 1992, matching the number of launches last year.
The launch on Friday from Cape Canaveral in Florida carried a Navstar Global Positioning System satellite into orbit. The satellite is one in a network used by the Air Force to assist with navigation. Six have been launched this year aboard Delta II rockets.
Sheila Carter-Hart, spokeswoman for the Huntington Beach subsidiary, said the unit has orders for 18 more Delta launches through 1995.
