SAN FERNANDO VALLEY : Bernardi Returns to L.A. City Council After Illness
- Share via
Los Angeles City Councilman Ernani Bernardi, who has represented the San Fernando Valley for 32 years, returned to work Friday after spending the last six weeks recovering from colon cancer surgery.
“I’ve missed being away from the action, but I’ve been following the council on TV,” Bernardi said.
The 81-year-old Bernardi appeared frail but in good spirits. He said he will retire from his 7th District council seat July 1 but might surprise everybody and enter the race for mayor.
