Over and Out: The head of the British Broadcasting Corp.’s mainstream channel, BBC1, has resigned in a move that appears to be related to the channel’s disastrous and embarrassing launch of the costly mega-flop soap opera “Eldorado.” Jonathan Powell was the executive ultimately responsible for the prime-time soap, which drew hoots of laughter in all the wrong places when it premiered last summer. In its effort to fill Powell’s job, the BBC has taken out help wanted ads in newspapers.
