Seventy-one major league players made $3 million or more in 1992, up from 34 in 1991, according to a salary study by the Associated Press.
While the Dodgers’ Darryl Strawberry was the highest-paid player in 1991 at $3.8 million, Bobby Bonilla of the New York Mets topped the 1992 list at $6.1 million. The average salary last season topped $1 million for the first time.
