HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP : Buena Remains Unbeaten With 4-1 Win

Juan Melgoza scored two goals and Victor Sanchez added a goal and an assist to lead Buena High to a 4-1 victory over visiting Notre Dame in a boys’ nonleague soccer match Wednesday.
Sanchez scored first on an assist by Byron Popp, and Joe Hoffman scored on a penalty kick later in the first half to give Buena (5-0) a 2-0 halftime lead.
Melgoza scored on an assist by his brother, Jose, to increase Buena’s lead to 3-0 early in the second half.
In other boys’ matches:
Saugus 0, Thousand Oaks 0--Goalie Joe Bonfiglio of Saugus (2-0-1) registered eight saves and Ben Benedict and Ken Firmin teamed in goal for the Lancers (4-1-1).
Harvard-Westlake 1, Brentwood 0--Jordan Elias scored the lone goal of the nonleague match for the host Wolverines (4-0-1).
Harvard-Westlake goalie Chris Miller stopped a penalty kick midway through the second half to preserve the victory.
GIRLS
Chatsworth 4, Granada Hills 0--Erin Berry and Mary Oades each scored two goals for the Chancellors (7-0), who clinched the North Valley League championship.
