La Canada Flintridge : Library Subscriptions Saved
The La Canada Flintridge Branch of the Los Angeles County Library has found eight private contributors to keep 10 special-interest magazines on the shelves that otherwise would not be renewed because of budget cuts.
“We did have a little bit of money to get the basics,” including Consumer Reports, Parents, National Geographic and Time, said community library manager Barry Shemaria.
But unless other sponsors can be found, he said, subscriptions to many special-interest magazines will not be renewed, especially some of the more expensive business periodicals, such as Best Insurance Reports, and Morningstar, a mutual fund periodical that costs $395 a year.
