Kohl and Violence

I was very heartened to read the article (Dec. 5) describing the much needed actions being taken by the “long-silent majority” in Germany to protest right-wing extremist violence.
Our Los Angeles needs an antidote of similar proportions. “ . . . The Munich (substitute Los Angeles) city government recently published a survey concluding that without its foreign employees, the city simply wouldn’t function.” Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we all found some creative public way of recognizing all the people in our city from so many lands who keep it functioning? In the spirit of Rebuild L.A., let us build a new L.A. spirit. Appreciation does wonders for human relationships.
