LOS ANGELES : Rebuild L.A. Seeks Asian, Woman for Co-Chair Posts
After announcing the appointment of Tony M. Salazar as Rebuild L.A.’s fourth chairman, Peter V. Ueberroth said that the organization now is looking for an Asian-American and a woman to join its top management. Currently, Rebuild L.A. has four co-chairmen--two Anglos, one black and one Latino.
Ueberroth said in an interview that he had met recently with three of Rebuild L.A.’s Asian-American board members and asked them to seek out someone who has a “passion for change in the inner city” and broad-based support.
One of the three board members, attorney Stewart Kwoh, said he and his colleagues have interviewed several people and hope to present the organization’s co-chairs with a short list of qualified candidates within 30 days.
Ueberroth, the group’s original chairman, said he has not designated a specific search committee for a woman co-chair but said he has told his colleagues at Rebuild L.A. that in looking for any future co-chairs they should look “equally hard for a woman.”
