Contamination warnings for about three-fourths of Mission Bay were posted Wednesday, County Health Service officials said.
Bay waters north and east of West Mission Bay Drive except for Ventura Cove have been closed due to high bacterial counts caused by runoff from recent rains.
Other warning areas include Imperial Beach, north from the southern end of Seacoast Drive to the U.S. Navy Radio Station on the Silver Strand, and the coast surrounding the mouth of the Los Penasquitos Lagoon, one-quarter mile south and 300 feet north, the county health services agency said.
The postings will remain until the waters return to safe levels for recreational use.
