Compton : Public Hearing Scheduled on Casino; Vote to Follow
Compton officials will hold a public hearing at 6 tonight followed by a vote on whether to allow a card casino to be built in the city.
The hearing will be in the council chambers, 205 S. Willowbrook Ave.
Council members have said they will vote after the hearing on a development agreement between the city and Compton Entertainment Inc., which has proposed building a casino near the city-managed Ramada Hotel.
Whether the agreement passes or fails, a lawsuit is sure to follow, both sides of the issue have said.
Since the proposal to build the casino was first discussed in September, a number of groups have emerged to fight or back the plan.
Three of the five City Council members have favored the plan.
