Walnut : City Targets Gang Crime

City officials are working with school administrators and sheriff’s deputies on a gang suppression program at Walnut High School.
The city will spend $8,200 from assets seized in narcotics raids on a video camera, two instant cameras and a pocket-size cellular phone.
Walnut High School administrators will use the equipment for surveillance on the school grounds. Any suspicious activity will be photographed or videotaped, and sheriff’s deputies will be notified immediately, officials said.
A sheriff’s deputy also has been assigned to patrol the high school area.
