Rosemead : School Board Appointee
The Garvey School District will fill by appointment the vacancy on the Board of Education created when Diane Martinez was elected to the Assembly in the 49th District.
Appointment, rather than a special election, to fill the term that expires next November will save the district $42,000, officials said.
Prospective appointees must be at least 18, a registered voter and a resident of the district, which serves portions of Rosemead, San Gabriel and Monterey Park. They may submit candidate information through Dec. 31 to Earleen Green at the district office, 2730 N. Del Mar Ave., Rosemead 91770.
The board will interview finalists at an open meeting Jan. 14 and announce its decision Jan. 21.
Information: The superintendent’s office at (818) 307-3444.
