POWAY : Pipe-Bomb Blast Attributed to Teens
- Share via
A pipe bomb exploded in a park near the Stoneridge Country Club in Poway early Tuesday morning in what investigators suspect was a teen-age boys’ prank.
The crude PVC-pipe bomb exploded in 1300 block of Edina Way, Sgt. Conrad Grayson of the Sheriff’s Department Arson and Bomb Squad said.
Three similar bombs were found in the area--all inactive because of their construction, Grayson said.
Although investigators say there are no suspects, the methods used to make the bombs are typical of those used by “11- to 15-year-old boys,” Grayson said. The bombs were made with improper fuses and contents.
