Alex Buys Part of Lucca Packing: Alex Foods Inc. has bought the frozen Mexican-food business of a South San Francisco packing company.
Curtice Burns Foods said Tuesday that it has sold part of its Lucca Packing Co. to Alex Foods for an undisclosed amount. Lucca makes frozen pasta, sauces and Mexican food under the brand names Mexican Holiday, Mexican Classics and Reds.
Curtice Burns bought Lucca in 1981 but said it is dumping those operations to concentrate on its main businesses: On the West Coast, it makes the Nalley’s Fine Foods line of salad dressing, chips and soups. Anaheim’s Alex Foods, on the other hand, specializes in Mexican food.
