Looking for a More Positive View of Youth
My letter is in reply to the article, “When Push Came to Shove, Coach Let Him Play,” published Nov. 12.
This article has a clearly negative slant and many biased views. It is obvious from reading this article that the reporter did not visit the Westchester High School campus--or if she did, she only saw the cliche of what she wanted to see to make a better article.
If the reporter had taken the time to walk on the campus, she would have found that it is very safe. I know because I am a sophomore at Westchester High School.
Principal Eileen Banta does an excellent job patrolling the campus and talking and actually listening to the students. Her “open-door policy” makes her an efficient and effective leader of our school.
Instead of focusing primarily on the negative points of public education, why don’t you try consolidating positive points into your articles?
After all, intertwined in the public education system is that of the future. Therefore, instead of trying to break down the infrastructure of the future, try strengthening it.
