An ax-wielding Reseda man who was stabbed by another motorist during a fight after their cars collided in North Hills may face a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, Los Angeles police said Tuesday.
Detectives will ask the district attorney’s office to file the charge against Michael Francis Niblack, 34, Lt. Kyle Jackson said.
Niblack was arrested Monday afternoon at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he was treated for a stab wound in the abdomen, Jackson said.
The fight began shortly after midnight Sunday outside a hamburger stand in the 15700 block of Roscoe Boulevard, Jackson said.
After the collision, which was described as minor, the drivers allegedly faced off.
Jackson said Niblack began using an ax to strike the other car and the other man on the left arm.
Jackson said the man under attack stabbed Niblack with a knife.
Police did not release the name of the other man.
Niblack reportedly shouted, “We’re even now!” and tried to get back into his car but was prevented from doing so by the other man, Jackson said.
Niblack then ran away, Jackson said.
