The president of United Technologies Corp.’s international division, Jonathan M. Schofield, was named chairman and chief executive of Airbus Industrie of North America Inc.
Schofield, 52, succeeds Alan S. Boyd, 70, who will become vice chairman of the Herndon, Va.-based wholly owned subsidiary of the European aircraft consortium Airbus Industrie.
The subsidiary is responsible for sales and after-sales support to U.S. and Canadian airlines. The consortium is a leading competitor to Boeing Co. in the commercial airliner field.
The appointment is effective Dec. 16.
