Vanderbilt Coach Gerry DiNardo isn’t interested in players who “just want an education,” according to a conversation that was secretly recorded by a player who was later dismissed from the team.
DiNardo dismissed Mike Gandolfo earlier this week after learning that the senior defensive lineman had carried a tape recorder under his jacket during a meeting between the two.
During the tape-recorded conversation, Gandolfo is heard telling DiNardo that the players fear and are intimidated by him. He added: “I’m not wild about having anybody on this team who just wants an education. . . . I tell them that in recruiting.”
